ABOUT

Phosphenes are colours and patterns we see when we close our eyes. So unbeknownst to most of us, humans have the innate ability to generate light like fireflies & star fish. This is the inspiration behind Phosphene’s approach.

Phosphene is built on independent thinking. We work with you as a partner in solving your marketing challenges selflessly and with the same passion as you. We encourage healthy conflicts and immersive conversations.

Whether its business innovation, a market diagnosis or even a feasibility check, we can partner you with our experience over a decade in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia regions and walk with you to the path of adventure and growth.

OUR APPROACH

Listen carefully

At Phosphene, this is an art. It has three blocks – be curious, open & observant. We are never in a hurry to respond, unless we are done listening. We believe by perfecting the art of listening, we are able to deliver a lot of value into our solutions.

Create with honesty

We believe in being responsible in every step of the way. In our research work, we take extra steps to be transparent, collaborative and solution oriented. This helps us work beyond technicalities and formal agreements. The result often, surpasses everything else.

Share with clarity & simplicity

Simplicity has a huge respect at Phosphene. We know the fruits of our labour can be lost in the torrents of data. This is why we spend extra time in working on ways to engage your audiences. A core part of our work is understanding your company culture and how communication flows generally, in order to tailor a creative output of the research. For example, we work with independent filmmakers and artists when we think of delivering a great quality research output that cannot wait for action.

Nimesh is the founder of Phosphene. He is a qualitative researcher and cultural strategist with more than eighteen years of experience running projects independently and leading key accounts across major agencies. Before founding Phosphene, he was a Partner at Point Consultancy in Dubai, and earlier worked with Synovate, AMRB (now Kantar) and Grey Worldwide.

His work centres on reading culture and turning it into direction. Using semiotics, ethnography and qualitative research, he helps brands understand the markets they operate in across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. He works for a balance of rigorous analysis and clear, actionable thinking, and is a strong believer in research that leads to a decision rather than a lengthy report.

His experience spans foods and beverages, personal care, technology and luxury, with particular depth in the Middle East Region. He often acts as a regional cultural and trends advisor for Phosphene’s major clients, and has led work across brand and category strategy, communication development and innovation — including brand-extension projects in Saudi Arabia, and a turnaround for a major beverage brand facing pressure from low-price competitors.

His interests lie in semiotics, cultural foresight and the place of human judgement in an increasingly AI-driven research landscape. He also takes on occasional pro bono work for government and social-sector organisations
